From: Bill Johnston on 4 Jun 2007 09:44 Hello, If anyone has any insights or suggestions here, it would be awesome. I have a back and leg muscle problem. I have pain near the very bottom of my backbone- its not very intense although I sometimes get a twinge of sharper pain. I find it uncomfortable to lie on my back. The muscles in my hips and buttocks, and to some extent my upper thighs, are very tight and sore, tire easily, and frequently ache. If I walk more than a couple blocks, these muscles start to become tired and achey. The problem first showed up a year ago, while I worked as a grocery stocker (I'd had simple back pain a couple months earlier, which had only affected my back, and had mainly gone away). The culprit was evidently the fact that my job required frequent lifting of heavy boxes from the floor rapidly, which tired the leg and hip muscles involved and affected my back. After I quit that job, the problem seemed to 85% go away within a couple of months afterwards. I still found sleeping on my back uncomfortable, and long walks tired me more quickly than in the past, with my hips and buttocks tiring first. The problem resurfaced with a recent factory job. It is not a very difficult job, although a bit repetitive, but it seems to have re- activated the problem. Tasks involved prolonged standing, and especially frequent stooping and/or rotating the waist seem to set it off. There is also some lifting involved but it is not very heavy stuff and I dont have to do it too much. Tasks which I perform while seated don't seem to be a problem. Although I had a week off, and two weeks of only doing seated tasks, the problem hasn't gone away, although it has gotten better. I have also gone to a massage therapist a couple times for some rather rigorous massages, which did release alot of the tension in the muscles inviolved, although some of the ones worked on hurt for days afterwards.
