I am so happy to be back. The plane trip up was much harder than I
anticipated. I needed to use all my distraction tricks to get through
without screaming out for help. It didn't help that we hit a fair bit of
turbulence but I got through it. Taking my iPod was a great help as having
songs I love really helped me.

It took me a few hours to settle down afterwards but I was able to focus on
my conference which helped.

Catching up with old friends was great and we had a lovely Italian banquet
dinner.

I was really nervous this afternoon knowing I had to catch the plane back.
But my boss was on the same plane so it helped chatting to him as we waited
at the airport. As I went through security my shoes set off the detector
equipment, which I found hilarious as I had no problem with the same shoes
when I came through yesterday at Melbourne airport. That helped relax me
further and I actually enjoyed the plane trip back home (except for a bumpy
take-off) and even managed to sneak a look out the window as we were coming
down to land. Boy, it was great to be back home.

Thanks to everyone who wished me luck. Even though I'm so much stronger and
in control of my anxiety, plane trips are always hard for me.

Vanessa :)

Yay! It so nice to hear that you enjoyed your trip! I knew you'd get
through it. :~)

Turbulence on a plane always gives me the jitters, too. That's
understandable. Welcome back and I'm glad you're home!

Hi Vanessa,

Flying is one of my worst fears - right now, its beyond my limits to go on
a plane - so I think what you did is really, really brave! :-)
Also I can relate to what you wrote about the moment when you were able to
"sneak a look out the window" during landing...whenever I was finally able
to look out the window (usually about two minutes before touchdown ;-)), I
felt so proud that I used to make quite a show of it :-).
I hope you have the time now to relax a bit, and "revel" in what you have
achieved.

Franziska
