From: FancyNancy on 7 Dec 2005 18:34 Hi all, Nancy again. I got back from the doctor earlier today. Well, its NOT tmj, whatever that may be lol. I never really thought about it, but what you guys say makes sense, that TMJ isn't really a diagnoses, just a catch all. Regardless....this new doctor says that it IS an ear infection! I asked the doc at the ER specifically about an ear infection when I saw him and he said no. I think thats what its been all along. There is a swollen lymph node behind my ear too, that the ER doc didn't notice, even when I pointed it out to him. So anyway....this new doc has prescribed the Z pack for me and says that if it doesn't take the pain away then we'll get an xray. But regardless, it all makes more sense to me than TMJ. I'll let you know how it goes as the antibiotics have a chance to work. Thanks for all your kind words and advice! Nancy

I had the same just last week.. an ear infection that caused the swollen gland and the sore jaw joint. I had antibiotics my mouth and an ear spray for good measure. It took a good few days to clear up so don't get despondent if it doesn't seem to be shifting. Ann
