From: News Groups on 24 Sep 2008 17:34 MY GI diagnonosed me with Mild UC. LAst April. I was put on COLIZIDE (may have a similar name in USA). Anyway that worked quickly I was solid (but severely constipated) within a week. A few weeks ago I started getting loose and watery stools. I went To a different GI and he gave be Buscopan. It made me solid again. Question? Surely Buscopan is not a med. used for UC. So why did it work? I should point out my symptoms have always been loose stools and gas(but it depends on the food). I never had bloody stools? The new GI does not want to conclude that I have UC until he sees Biopsy reports? Could the first GI have misdiagnosed me???? Thanks Mr S
From: paul hinman on 25 Sep 2008 03:31 The definitive test for UC is the biopsy results from samples taken during a colonoscopy. As for Buscopan, my GI gives it to me when I have digestive upsets with my crohns. Lomotil is a prescription form of imodium which I take when my bowels get a little too soft or too active. Good luck News Groups wrote: > MY GI diagnonosed me with Mild UC. LAst April. I was put on COLIZIDE > (may have a similar name in USA). A friend of mine with UC swears by the occasional Imodium to help her get through her worst days. She also has a lot of food intolerances and has changed her diet to eliminate fruit, fruit juice, vegetables including salads, coffee, sweets, and anything else that exacerbates the diarrhoea. She also eats very little in the evenings, starting the day with a big breakfast. The BRAT (banana, rice, apple mousse, toast/black tea) is a good diet basis for those with diarrhoea. Introduce other foods gradually to work out your own intolerances - only applies when you have a flare. Info on your meds can be found at www.drugs.com and www.rxlist.com Vanny "paul hinman" <paul.hinman(a)shaw.ca> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:t7HCk.66925$QF5.29158(a)newsfe08.iad... > The definitive test for UC is the biopsy results from samples taken during > a colonoscopy.
