I had RP over eleven years ago and radiation therapy a short while
after, plus "some" hormone therapy prior to RP. Prospects were not
great: high PIN, Gleason 4+3, microscopic extension, no nodal nor
seminal involvement. My being alive today shows that decisions and
procedures worked for the best. Biochemical recurrence came five years
later. This week, for the first time PSA reached 1 (1.07). Eight
measurements, same lab, over six years show a PSADT of 24 months, BUT
that was reduced to 15 months during the past three mesurements. I
continue asymptomatic. It is more than eleven years since RP and six
since biochemical failure.
Should I just go on with my life or engage in some treatment (hormonal
+ taxotere)? I'm 73, active, and in reasonable health (AFib etc). A
read a lot about it, but results are not consistent. Informed
suggestions are welcome.

Hi...Have you been on any kind of hormonal therapy (HT) since your
biochemical recurrence? If so, a brief digest containing the type of
HT practiced, the dates and the PSA results would be helpful. BTW,
you might want to repost this over at alt.support.cancer.prostate,
there is a lot more participation over there...ron

No, I have not been on hormonal therapy since biochemical recurrence.
Thanks for the suggestion.
