When there is "finger-nail polish remover breath" **without**
metabolic acidosis it is starvation ketosis rather than diabetic
ketoacidosis (DKA).

DKA is rare in type 2 diabetics especially in those who are checking
their fasting blood glucose daily.

Starvation ketosis does kill hunger and commonly happens to type-2
diabetics who are low-carbing.
