From: Lowen on 30 Aug 2008 17:06 Steve, the latest test at 5 yr 3 mos. is still undetectable at < .04 Great news to go into my retirement with having to worry less and less and almost not at all about it. Only my type 2 diabetes to contend with hopefully , of which is under control at this time with diet and excersize. Going on our first camping trip with the new trailer to gets the bugs out before venturing across country in the near future. So I'll be lurking for awhile.. On a sad note , My brother-in-law who had his removed the Davinci way has we believe had a failure of both the surgery and followup radiation, I believe his was done in 05 at age 60 with a psa of 4.2 and a gleeson of 6. It came back at 3 months around .2 and continued to rise, so they hit him with radiation early this year and last months reading came back as 0.42. So its on to a urologist now he thinks. It's sad cause he isn't very intelligent and can't comprehend the numbers or do any research for himself. and has put his fate in god's hands. And the VA Drs.I try to explain to him what is happening but he just doesn't understand the medical terms . Later, my friend.

Sorry; to which of the Steves was the above addressed? This site is infested with Steves, and we try to differentiate by referring to them by first name + initial of last name. Thus I am Steve J. Thanks. What does he expect a *surgeon* to do for him? That is what a urologist is. No more than a surgeon. I do believe that he *desperately* needs the counsel of a genuine cancer specialist, a medical oncologist. Some can be found via this portal on the website of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute: http://prostate-cancer.org/resource/find-a-physician.html > It's sad cause he isn't very intelligent and can't comprehend the > numbers or do any research for himself. and has put his fate in god's > hands. As someone wiser than I has said, God helps those who help themselves. I understand that to mean that God will not help PCa patients who are incompetent. The latter rely upon their medics to make decisions. > And the VA Drs.I try to explain to him what is happening but he just doesn't understand the medical terms . He can find definitions in many places, including the encyclopedic website of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute at http://prostate-cancer.org/resource/glossary.html Lastly: if the BIL is ignorant and will not listen to Lowen, his last best hope is a medical oncologist. Regards, Steve J

I'm jealous, Owen. I still have 148 days to go. I'm fairly envious of your PSA as well. It's fantastic news. > On a sad note , My brother-in-law who had his removed the Davinci way has > we believe had a failure of both the surgery and followup radiation, I > believe his was done in 05 at age 60 with a psa of 4.2 and a gleeson of 6. > It came back at 3 months around .2 and continued to rise, so they hit him > with radiation early this year and last months reading came back as 0.42. > So its on to a urologist now he thinks. > It's sad cause he isn't very intelligent and can't comprehend the numbers > or do any research for himself. and has put his fate in god's hands. As you know, I believe God exists, but I don't think he's sitting in Heaven looking down just waiting for that one person who won't do anything for himself just to cure his cancer. Of course, I could be wrong and wasted a whole lot of time here and at the doctors. ;-) Does he have email? My surgery failed. My radiation failed. I'd be happy to tell him of my success with ADT; and that I'd be dead now if I waited for God to serve me. -- PSA 16 10/17/2000 @ 46 Biopsy 11/01/2000 G7 (3+4), T2c RRP 12/15/2000 G7 (3+4), T3cN0M0 Neg margins PSA <.1 <.1 <.1 .27 .37 .75 PSAD 0.19 years EBRT 05-07/2002 @ 47 PSA .34 .22 .15 .21 .32 PSAD .056 years Lupron 07/03 (1 mo) 8/03 and every 4 months there after PSA .07 .05 .06 .09 .08 .132 .145 PSAD 1.4 years Casodex added daily 07/06 PSA <0.04, <0.05, <0.04, <0.04, <0.1 2/12/08 Illegitimati non carborundum
