the old amino acid tryptophan was worth the money and a lot of people
relied on it as a sleep aid/antidepressant adjunct up until the late
eighties. Unfortunately, the OTC versions of it were outlawed by the
FDA in the late eighties, around the same time Prozac came out. They
say it actually worked. Larry Hoover could tell you a lot more about
this than I could, he is the expert here on OTC supplements, vitamins
and herbs.

Turkey meat has a lot of tryptophan in it BTW. Thats probably why you
feel so relaxed after a big Thanksgiving dinner...all that turkey meat
you eat. You get a big surge of tryptophan, which causes a release of
serotonin which causes relaxation and a sleepy feeling.

Is that the same thing as L-tryptophan or is there a difference? I see
lots of places selling L-tryptophan online.
