From: Dr Chan on 16 Aug 2008 22:35 3i Magnetic Abutments? I was seeing a patient at a friend's clinic. She has a lower full overdenture retained by 2 magnetic abutments, gold in colour. They resemble healing abutments with a rounded top, rising about 3mm from the gums. The patient intends to make a new denture and my colleague had earlier advised her to switch to the stud abutment/O-ring system. Reusing the magnetic plates on the denture is not an option as the patient does not want to be without them. Of course, we had no idea which implant system was used. The practitioner who placed the implants 5 years ago worked for a hospital and was uncontactable. I took an xray and saw a couple of Nobel-like implants. As my colleague doesn't do implants, there were no screwdrivers in the clinic, so I could remove the abutments and have a peek at the internal connection. Could it be 3i since Nobel doesn't have magnetic abutments? http://www.luckyplazadental.com cosmetic & anti-aging dentistry |
