I had slight reaction the first two days but now it's almost zero and I feel
like normal again. According to that, treatment is going to be very easy.
I'm doing 48 weeks 1,200 mg. Ribavirin 180 mcg Pegasys genotype HCV 1b. I
feel great. Cheers.

Jamffer,
glad to hear it went well for you, I take my first shot tonight so
this is encouraging. I started the pill this morning, and didn't
notice anything different. Take Care,

Jamffer,
The Wall when and if you hit it, should be about shot six thru eight.
Remember just like many other pharmaceuticals, Riba takes some time to get
up to clinical levels in your system. The Interferon and the Riba are
designed to work in concert. When your Riba gets up to its working level,
it synergizes with the Interferon. Then....

cheers and good luck to both you and Topcat

<grin>

ok, Jamffer. I'm glad you are feeling great today, and doing so
well so far.

And, my TX was not difficult, that was one of the points I was
trying to make - I think it was average and fairly normal -- in
fact my doctor (from a very large teaching hospital which has
treated thousands) was amazed at how WELL I did....it's a
cumulative thing though, and I was trying to share some of the
things you guys need to be aware of that you could possibly have
to deal with down the road.

I actually had it pretty easy compared to many of the others who
posted here about their treatments! Most of what I listed were
'minor' issues, fairly easily resolved and I was able to adapt to
them.

My reason for listing some of the things I experienced was NOT to
be negative and try to pull you down, but to help you to be aware
of things that 'might' come up that you will want to deal with
right away if/when they do, so that they don't become major
issues for you.

I sure hope that you are able to breeze through the treatment
with no tough side effects to deal with at all... but in reality,
I'll be very surprised if you do.

good luck :)

Sara
who appreciated all the folks here who shared their experiences
with me so that I could be prepared for possible side effects
when they came up.

Well Sarah, hmnn, thanks for the warning. Had my first shot last
night, and like you Jmaffer, no problems so far. Maybe me and
you
will be the exception to the rule. If not, maybe we can
comiserate
together. It's snowing and blowing like crazy here, I stocked up
on
movies for the weekend just in case I was down. think I'll pop
in "no
country for old men" to see what the hoopla is all about.
take care.

Let us know if it's worth watching?

sorry if you guys took my words as a negative thing. I just know
when I started tx, I was glad to hear what others experienced. If
'weird' things start happening while you guys are on tx, remember
that many here have been there and dealt with the weirdness and
you may find some answers here. I just feel that the better
prepared you are to recognize possible side effects, the sooner
you may realize you might have something going on that you want
to deal with asap.

One more thing -- many of the people that do post here are
probably more informed about the virus and how to deal with it
than most doctors! Not me by any stretch of the imagination, but
there are some here who have spent a lot of time and energy
researching and learning all about this issue, and I trust their
advice and opinions. This is the single most knowledgable group
that I've found on the web when it comes to HepC.

again, good luck! I sure hope you both breeze through tx with
very minimal sides and no big issues to deal with!

Sara
who's wondering if she should mention the hair
loss/thinning/breakage/weirdness thing yet

Well TC, so today I don't have (any) symptoms of treatment. For two days I
felt a little achy but not too big a deal.
I have the number of the HCV nurse in charge of VA treatment so if any
issues come up I can call and leave a message. She and her assistant nurse
do little else but HCV treatment all day. They treat many hundreds of
Western New York Veterans. They said to not worry about next week, to deal
with it when it gets here. They said that more have an easier time than
difficult. Unless they were trying to be positive for my benefit.
They did say that with Pegasys instead of Pegintron there are much less
unpleasant issues. They claimed that Pegintron caused more injection site
rashes and more of all the other issues too. The VA uses Pegasys
exclusively now.
I'm lucky that the local VA Clinic is two blocks away for some blood work.
I still have to drive 77.5 mi. to Buffalo VA Hospital for virus count, four
more times in 48 wks.
How did you make out with your headaches? I get lower back pain sometimes
if I walk too many miles in a row. I sure am ready for warmer weather,
yesterday I done my spring bike cleaning and am waiting for the snow to thaw
and chill factor to go above 40F.
How much Ribavirin are you doing? 1200mg for me. The nurse said that they
wanted to be aggressive enough to knock the nastys down to undetectable as
soon as possible. My weight is 170 lbs when I started tx.
Keep posting, kick the dragons butt.
Jamffer
