From: C. Berlin on 24 Jul 2007 20:37 Sorry I'm late coming to this thread, I check this newsgroup only rarely. I used Hollister pouches for many years, and never had a problem. Then about two years ago a problem arose. After a few days of wear, an occasional pouch would develop a tear at the top where the pouch connected to the flange ring. The pouch material would simply pull or tear away, always at the same place, starting small then tearing bigger if I did not catch it in time and change. This resulted in a number of accidents (some small, some big) after many accident-free years. This did not happen with every pouch - just once in awhile at first. I called Hollister twice about this. On each occasion their response was to show little interest in whether there might be a manufacturing problem (as I suggested) and to simply send me a few boxes of free replacement pouches. The frequency of this increased over the subsequent year. While I was hesitant to give up on an item I'd used successfully for years and had liked a lot, I finally gave up in frustration and switched to Convatec about 6 or 8 months ago. Haven't had an accident or pouch problem since then. Shame on Hollister! From: Barnard Peters on 25 Jul 2007 01:51 Damn! I'm having the same problem of the bag separating from the ring. I just thought it was me as I'm pretty new to the poop bag thing. I also am having problems with the filter plugging up after about an hour. Some times less. I have a colo and would have thought that the filters would last pretty long. I have a bunch of Convatec samples I think I'm going to have to try on the weekend and see if I like them better. On Wed, 25 Jul 2007 00:37:51 +0000, C.
